Vernon T. Veira, Chief Technology Officer is a Senior Business and Technology Executive with extensive accomplishments as a strategic visionary and operational planner for business development and software research and product development. He is an inclusive and collaborative leader with strong business and financial acumen, and possess’ high personal integrity, and interpersonal savvy. He has a proven successful track record in business development, management of large complex technical organizations, client relationships, capital and expense budgeting, and workforce globalization. with strong business process improvement and hands-on technology experience. For the last 10 years, Vernon has managed business process improvement and software development projects across the entire SDLC for government agencies, large Telco and Service companies. His software development experience coupled with his exposure to Agile/Lean development has enabled him to shorten the software development lifecycle for his clients and help them quickly achieve value.
Mr. Veira is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Mt. Vernon, New York based Capstone Strategy Group (CSG), LLC, whose core experience is centered on “Continuous Business Improvement and Quality Assurance.” CSG uses its competencies in business process analysis and optimization, and data collection and statistical (quantitative, qualitative, and predictive) analysis to help organizations achieve their transformation objectives. Before that Mr. Veira was Vice President, Internet and PC Software Development (Global Mailstream Engineering) at PITNEY BOWES, INC, in Stamford, CT, where he designed, implemented, and managed a software research and development practice. He created a world class organization with a strong customer focus that was globally dispersed (US, Europe, and India), decreasing direct labor costs by 20%, improving productivity by 25%, and generating $150 million in annual revenue.
Mr. Veira held numerous business and technology leadership positions at Verizon Communications, and Itron, Inc. He also completed four years of service in the United States Air Force as an Avionic Instrumentation System technician.
Mr. Veira completed a Master of Science in Information Technology degree from Quinnipiac University and a BBA in Management Information Systems from Florida International University. He received leadership training at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business, marketing management training at Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and Project Management training from George Washington University.
Mr. Veira is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Monroe College in New York City. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Stamford Boys and Girls Club. He is a past member of ITSMF (Information Technology Senior Management Forum) helping minority executives advance their IT/Engineering careers, and NACME (National Action Counsel for Minorities in Engineering), chartered to assist minority students with engineering scholarships.
He was featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal (January/February 2011), Diversity/Careers in Engineering and Information Technology Magazine (August/September 2007), and the National Society of Black Engineers Magazine (September 2003). He established the Credo Veira Memorial Foundation to award scholarships, fund text books, school supplies, and medical equipment for Caribbean countries (2006 – current)
